Time to give something back
Through our BLG Compass programme and the BFS commitment to being a Responsible Business, we support colleagues to have the time to give back to their communities. Through our Donate A Day scheme, we encourage and support everyone to volunteer their time to a charity or community group, either on their own or as part of a team event.
In addition, you might want to raise money for your chosen charity which can be matched up to £1,000 per event or £2,000 per calendar year. Or perhaps you would prefer to give as you earn through our salary sacrifice charity giving scheme, which offers a tax-efficient way to support your charity on an ongoing basis – up to £20 per month. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in group-wide charity events including dragonboat racing and team treks.
At BFS we want to invest in our communities and support them to thrive and prosper, by giving you lots of options to support the charities or communities you care about.

Giving Something Back lets us reach out directly to the heart of our communities and come together to do the right thing. From building relationships with local schools, supporting local charities, running an annual Christmas dinner for older people & donating to local food banks.

Sustainability
Our Sustainable Business Futures initiative is designed to reduce our impact on the environment. We’re making a difference in specific areas that affect our work, such as using the mantra ‘Refuse, Reduce, Re-use, Repair, Recycle’, mindfully minimising our carbon footprint, and we always evaluate the environmental impact of all our business activities.
Some of our achievements to date include
- Powering six of our offices, including our Head Office, by fully renewable energy
- We don’t supply one-use plastic anywhere and we have installed recycling points in all offices
- Measured our 2019 and 2020 operational carbon footprints and are putting in place targets to achieve net zero
- Piloting hybrid working to increase flexibility and reduce carbon emissions through commuting
