Data Intern

Data Intern (10-12 month fixed term)
Salary: £26,230
Banbury | Hybrid working

If you’re naturally curious, good with numbers and enjoy figuring things out, this could be the perfect first step into a career in data.

You’ll get hands-on with live business data, learn in-demand technical skills and help shape real decisions across the organisation.

You don’t need to know everything already, you just need curiosity, a good head for numbers and the aptitude to work with data.

The role

You’ll be working on our modern Databricks data platform, helping answer the questions that matter most to the business.

Questions like:

  • What does our customer portfolio look like by sector, size or geography?
  • How has the business changed over the last five years?
  • Where are the biggest opportunities for growth?
  • How can reporting be faster, smarter and more useful?

What you’ll be doing

You’ll support analysts and stakeholders by turning raw data into useful insight.

That means:

  • Working with data sets to spot trends, patterns and opportunities
  • Using basic SQL to query and extract information
  • Using basic Python to analyse data and automate tasks
  • Learning Power BI to build dashboards and visual reports
  • Turning one-off requests into reusable self-serve reporting tools
  • Presenting findings clearly to non-technical colleagues
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to understand challenges
  • Helping teams make better decisions through actionable insight

What you’ll bring

You might be studying now, recently graduated, or looking for your first break into analytics.

What matters most is your potential, so we’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Highly numerate
  • Studying towards (or recently completed) a numerate degree such as Maths, Science, Economics or similar
  • Interested in data, analytics or technology
  • Comfortable learning basic programming skills
  • Curious, proactive and eager to learn
  • Able to communicate clearly with different people
  • Excited by the chance to make a real contribution

The good stuff

This role is designed to give you genuine career-building experience.

You’ll leave with practical exposure to tools and skills employers are actively looking for.

  • Real-world experience working with business data
  • Training and support in SQL, Python and Power BI
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders
  • Dashboard design and reporting experience
  • Private healthcare for you and your family
  • Company pension scheme
  • Flexible benefits (gym membership, tech, health assessments and more)
  • Access to an online wellbeing centre
  • Discounts with a wide range of retailers
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, with buy/sell options
  • Electric Vehicle / Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle scheme
